Toronto Blue Jay slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will miss the WBC after suffering from knee discomfort. Vlad sustained the injury after running the bases in Friday’s Spring Training game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Vlad Jr. was seen walking toward the clubhouse with the trainer after playing the next half inning in the field. It is unsure if he will miss any time in the regular season. For now, the Blue Jays are playing it safe by keeping him out of the World Baseball Classic.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is Looking to Bounce Back after WBC
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is coming off a down season compared to his MVP run in 2021. This past season, he hit .274/.339/.480 with 32 home runs and 97 runs batted in. While still a solid season, Vlad is looking to bounce back to his 2021 ways and become one of the scariest hitters in the league.
Team Dominican Republic is still one of the best lineups we have ever seen, even with the loss of Vlad Jr. The lineup consisting of Julio Rodriguez, Rafael Devers, and Juan Soto and others is still one that can do a lot of damage. The WBC is set to start on Tuesday, March 7th and will run until March 21st.
It is truly disappointing to see such a talented player like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. miss out on playing in the WBC. However, let’s hope that we see him back and healthy in April to dominate at the plate for the Blue Jays, who are hoping to make it back to October this year.
