Watch: Why Washington will win the CFP National Championship

The College Football National Championship is around the corner. The CFP Committee has been very hesitant to rank the Washington Huskies in the top four. On Sunday, the Associated Press finally moved Washington into the No. 4 spot. Right now, they are behind Georgia, Ohio State and Michigan. Washington has a Heisman candidate leading the way.

The Huskies have playmakers up and down their roster. The Huskies’ offense leads the nation in passing yards per game and is fifth in the country in points per game. That offense is led by Penix, who will likely end up in New York, Rome Odunze, Ja’Lynn Polk and Dillon Johnson. All of whom have shined with their numbers called at various points in the season. The explosive offense doesn’t need much time to march downfield, we witnessed that in the matchup against No. 6 Oregon.

The Huskies’ defense isn’t nearly as good as their offense, but it has come through for them when they need it to. Washington isn’t blowing out their opponents like other CFP candidates, but they’ve been doing the key things to come away with the win. That in itself has finally proved to the voters that this team is Playoff material. At this point in the season, the AP polls don’t matter as much though, does the CFP committee agree?

Of course, the season isn’t over yet. The Schedule doesn’t get easier for Washington either. The Huskies will now prepare for a Washington State program that has nothing to lose. The Cougars are on the brink of bowl eligibility at 5-6 with a win they become eligible. They’re also coming off their most dominant win of the season, a 56-14 victory over Colorado. After WSU, they’ll face either Oregon, OSU or Arizona in the Pac-12 Championship.

Time Stamps:
