The first three weeks of the College Football season have gone by in a flash, so it’s time for our week 3 power rankings. I don’t think anybody saw this week coming. Oregon played how we expected them to through the first two weeks. Georgia struggled against Kentucky. Notre Dame demolished Purdue. LSU and Missouri barely squeaked by their opponents.
10. Utah Utes – BIG 12 – (3-0)
The Utes were without Cam Rising and still had a commanding victory over their rival. Right now, the Utes are doing what they need to in order to stay in contention for a CFP spot. They started out slow, sure, but Isaac Wilson got his first start and looked confident.
9. Missouri Tigers – SEC – (3-0)
The Tigers entered the week at sixth in the AP Poll, but they barely squeaked by Boston College. A win is a win but we have the Tigers coming in at nine on Week 3 Power Ranking. We’ll see how good this team is over the next couple weeks as they get ready for SEC competition.
8. Miami Hurricanes – ACC – (3-0)
Mario Cristobal has the Hurricanes in a good position early this season. Even though they haven’t played anyone extremely noteworthy, they still have looked fairly dominant. Cameron Ward has looked comfortable in his new system.
7. Oregon Ducks – B1G – (3-0)
Throughout the first two weeks of the season, the Ducks struggled against Idaho and Boise State. However, they got back to the Oregon brand of football against Oregon State. The Offensive Line was healthy and looked comfortable. For the first time this season, they actually allowed Dillon Gabriel to have time in the pocket. We’ll see if that continues.
6. Tennessee Volunteers – SEC – (3-0)
The real test for Tennessee will come this next week when they face No. 15 Oklahoma. The Vols have faced Chattanooga, NC State and Kent State through their first three games. They’ve allowed a combined 13 points. There’s not much to discuss for them in week 3 of college football.
5. Ole Miss Rebels – SEC- (3-0)
The Rebels will have to find a new team to face on their schedule in 2025. After being demolished by Ole Miss, Wake Forest bought out that scheduled game. Against the Deacons, Ole Miss put up 649 yards with remarkable efficiency. The Rebels should have it easy for a couple more weeks.
4. Georgia Bulldogs – SEC – (3-0)
The Bulldogs struggled this week. Let’s not sugarcoat it, they played horribly. This is not the same Georgia team that we’re used to seeing. This is a young team for Kirby. An unranked Kentucky team held them to less than 300 yards and just 13 points. Why should they stay in the Top 3 after that? Kentucky is not very good. If that’s the way Georgia plays the rest of the season, I’m sorry to say they will get beat. Potentially more than once.
3. Alabama Crimson Tide – SEC- (3-0)
Kalen DeBoer has the Crimson Tide in a good spot early in his career. I think the system looks better than a lot of us thought it initially would. Throughout the first three games of the season, Milroe has stayed consistent. On the 28th, we’ll see just how good this Alabama team is when they face Georgia.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes – B1G – (2-0)
Coming off of an early season bye week, the Buckeyes find themselves in second on the week 3 college football power ranking. They looked good in their first two games. Coming out of the bye, they’ll face Marshall before hitting the road to open up their Big Ten schdule.
1. Texas Longhorns – SEC – (3-0)
The Longhorns already have one convincing win on their resume with their 31-12 victory over a ranked Michigan. UTSA is not a joke of a program either, they have been solid over the last few years. As of right now, the Longhorns find themselves at the top of the power rankings. The SEC will be theirs to lose.
