Who do I pick up on waivers? It’s the question all fantasy managers ask at the start of each week. This article will give you some insight into the top players you should pick up from the Waiver Wire, to help your team. Oftentimes, the players you pick up from waivers can win you your league. So we want to get those players before our league-mates do. Here are the top Week 5 Waiver Wire targets. All of these players are on less than 50% of rosters according to Yahoo Fantasy Leagues.
Latavius Murray
Because Murray has taken over the lead in the Baltimore Ravens backfield, he should be on a roster in all leagues. Will he give you a ton of upside? No, he will not. However, if you are dealing with injuries to the running back position, make Murray a priority in your Week 5 Waiver Wire.
Damien Williams
Formerly known as “Playoff Damien”, the Chicago Bears running back now leads the backfield following the David Montgomery injury. We don’t know how long Montgomery will be out, but as long as he is out, Williams is a solid starting option. While Montgomery was out, Williams finished with 70 yards and a touchdown.
Samaje Perine
For the Cincinnati Bengals running back to be a viable option, we need to monitor the Joe Mixon injury. If Mixon misses time, it’s worth getting Perine on your roster. If Mixon is truly week-to-week, Perine will be a good fill-in while he’s out. When Mixon does come back, Perine is not worth having on your roster.
AJ Green
He has produced great numbers with either a touchdown or over 100 receiving yards in the past 3 games. It’s time to get Green off of waivers. Because the Arizona Cardinals and Kyler Murray are putting up big numbers every week, Green has become a safer option than expected. He is a weekly Flex play.
Trey Lance
Our Week 5 Waiver Wire list ends with the new starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. We will have to monitor how serious the Jimmy Garoppolo injury is, but as long as he’s out, Lance is a QB 1. Playing half of the game in Week 4, Lance had 2 touchdown passes and 41 yards rushing, totaling 20 fantasy points.
