After the success of the International Games in 2023, the NFL bandwagon is set to continue rolling, only this time, the Games are expanding their horizons to further reaches. This year, the NFL will be taking their game to Brazil for the first time ever. The match, which is set to be staged in Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, will see just under 50,000 fans watch the first ever NFL regular season game to be played in South America. The sport continues to break new boundaries and bring the action live to new markets.
Great in Germany
The NFL visited Frankfurt for the first time in 2023, after the successful trip to Munich the previous year and the two matches did not disappoint. Miami Dolphins were one of the four teams to play in Deutsche Bank Park and ahead of their narrow defeat to eventual Superbowl champions, Kansas City Chiefs, Head Coach Mike McDaniel remarked on the popularity of NFL in Germany. “It didn’t take long for this game to sell out,” said McDaniel, which speaks volumes for the stock NFL holds in Germany. The action reverts to Munich this year with the Carolina Panthers confirmed as the designated team to host a match on neutral territory.
Breaking new ground in Brazil
According to the NFL, Brazil is the second largest international fan base with 38 million fans following the sport in the country. That is an incredible feat for a country where football is basically a religion. Sao Paulo will play host to fans from around the world that make the journey to Brazil for this historic match.
More International NFL from 2025
The thought of the NFL entering new markets is not just speculation, it is pretty much a fact. After a vote by NFL clubs, it was agreed that the number of international matches will be doubled from four to eight from the start of 2025. The latest markets at Cloudbet will be focusing on whether the Kansas City Chiefs can win a third straight Superbowl, but if there were betting markets for which new market the NFL will explore next, there is long line of cities and countries waiting patiently for their opportunity. While the chances of returning to Mexico are high, cities such as Madrid, Rome, Dublin, and Sydney have been touted as possible destinations for the
NFL.
The NFL brand will continue to spread its wings around the world. Since the first International Games were held in 2007 in London, the sport has not looked back. Popularity continues to grow rapidly amongst fans on a global scale and the NFL certainly has the appetite to satisfy all of them.
