How did we get here

You wouldn’t expect that after winning the 2020-2021 Serie A title. That Inter Milan would be selling their best players right? Well that is happening and no they aren’t doing it by choice. They have been forced to sell their star players to balance the books. Although they will struggle due to the sale of their star players, everyone is wondering how they will fare next season.

Who did they have to get rid of

The question was who were Inter willing to give up in order for them to be on the positive side with finances. Talks were ongoing with Paris St Germain who wanted Moroccan Right Back Achraf Hakimi. Who they only signed the previous summer for 40 million. But early on there were reports of failure to pay Real Madrid the monthly installments. As the year went one, their debt kept amassing and looks like it won’t be stopped. Even though with the financial issues, they still managed to win the Serie A title.

The summer came along and there was a lot of uncertainty with players and coaches futures. Antonio Conte was one of the first people to leave Inter due to a difference in transfer ideas. As Conte wanted to sign more players, but due to the financial crisis, the board were leaning towards a sell players transfer window. Conte left as the disagreements led to Conte’s departure. That was only the beginning. Rumors were going around that star striker Romelu Lukaku was linked back with a move to Chelsea. After a bid of 115 million euros came in from Chelsea. And it looks like the former blue is going to reunite with Chelsea.

Have they acquired anyone

So far, it is pretty silent transfer activity on Inter’s end. As the financial crisis needs to be dealt with before they can sign anyone. Now that they have lost two of their best players, what will happen next in the financial crisis? Although they may not be able to spend as much, they could still be contenders for the Scudetto.
