With the NFL reaching the midway part of its season, there has been a lot of action to take place. There are teams no one saw winning to this point, and there are some disappointments. Here are the teams with the best chance to win their division.
AFC
North
- Ravens (6-3)
- Bengals (5-4)
- Browns (3-5)
- Steelers (2-6)
When it comes to the AFC North, this seems like a two team race right now. The Ravens are 6-3 while the Bengals are 5-4. Both of these teams have been beginning to find themselves as well. The Browns have a small chance with Deshaun Watson coming back, but the slow start to the season has hurt them. With the Steelers at 2-6, they are basically out of it. We could see two of these teams in the playoffs from this division, but only one will get home field. The Ravens already won the first matchup and the second one will be the last game of the season for both teams. There is a chance the division could come down to that game.
South
- Titans (5-3)
- Colts (3-5-1)
- Jaguars (3-6)
- Texans (1-6-1)
This division basically belongs to the Titans this season. The Titans have already beat the Colts twice, and they have a two game lead over the Jaguars. The way it looks at this point, the Colts and Jags both need miracles to win the division. The Titans have three division games left. If they can win two of three, they will be the division champs no matter what.
East
- Bills (6-2)
- Jets (6-3)
- Dolphins (6-3)
- Patriots (5-4)
This division just might be the best in football. They are the only division with every team over .500, and three of the teams all have six wins now. The Patriots look least likely to win, but even they are only a game back. The Jets looked like they would most likely be third after losing Breece Hall, but now they come off a huge win over the Bills. The Dolphins are 5-0 with Tua Tagovailoa. With the questions around the Josh Allen injury to his UCL, this division could end up being any of these teams. My personal guess is it will come down to if the Dolphins can beat the Bills again. If they do, I would have to think the Dolphins will be the division winners. There are three teams from this division in the playoffs. This should be a fun division to keep and eye on.
West
- Chiefs (6-2)
- Chargers (5-3)
- Broncos (3-5)
- Raiders (2-6)
Coming into the season, most people thought this division would have the most fire power. However, it seems as if all of these teams have their flaws. The Raiders blew another 20 point lead this weekend, and just can’t seem to find any wins. The Broncos are an offensive mess that struggles to score. As for the Chargers, they just seem to not be able to get out of their own way. The best looking team in this division is the Chiefs, and they have some issues running the ball consistently. It seems like this year that the division will come down to the Chiefs and Chargers. With the Chiefs already beating the Chargers once, it seems like that all the Chiefs need to do is win that other division game and sweep. The Chargers are still in the playoff hunt as well, so they need to put the pedal to the metal and get some wins now.
NFC
North
- Vikings (7-1)
- Packers (3-6)
- Bears (3-6)
- Lions (2-6)
I just mean wow. The Vikings are four games up on their second place division rivals. They have come storming out of the gates, their only loss being to the 8-0 Eagles. After recently getting tight end TJ Hockenson, they look to set themselves up rather nicely for the postseason. As for the Packers, they just do not seem right. Chicago has some promise with Justin Fields looking really good, but they are probably a team for next year. As for the Lions, they have the worst defense in football but held the Packers at a low point total for just their second win. This division seems like it is the Vikings to lose this year.
South
- Buccaneers (4-5)
- Falcons (4-5)
- Saints (3-6)
- Panthers (2-7)
This division seems to be really confusing. The Bucs look awful, but still somehow are atop the division with a 4-5 record. The Bucs just do now seem like themselves this year, and the offense looks not too good. As for the Falcons, they just seem to run the ball really well but struggle to pass it well consistently. The Saints are having issues with their quarterback situation, but still are right outside the chance to win. The Panthers are off to an awful start to the halfway point in the season, but still have been competitive in games. This division should come down to the Falcons and Bucs. The Bucs have a somewhat hard schedule, while the Falcons look a bit easier. With the Bucs winning the first game, it will be interesting to see who can win the second matchup and get ahead.
East
- Eagles (8-0)
- Cowboys (6-2)
- Giants (6-2)
- Commanders (4-5)
This is another good division in the NFL. Three of the four are over six wins, and the Eagles are undefeated. Along with that, all of these teams other than the Commanders are in the playoffs if it ended today. With the Eagles looking so dominant, they will be hard to stop. They have already beat the Cowboys once. If the Eagles can manage to win two of their three games against the Giants and Cowboys, they should be crowned division champs. This Eagles team is really good and have set themselves up nice in a really competitive division.
West
- Seahawks (6-3)
- 49ers (4-4)
- Rams (3-5)
- Cardinals (3-6)
This division is probably one of the most shocking. With Geno Smith at the helm, the Seahawks have been playing some unbelievable football. Kenneth Walker looks like he is a machine on the ground, and this guy is a rookie. With the Rams and Cardinals both looking like messes to this point in the year, the division seems to come down to the 49ers and the Seahawks. With the 49ers already winning the first matchup, the Seahawks will need to win the second one in order to win the division. The 49ers continue to look better, and the recent addition of Christian McCaffery will help them out a lot as well. If Jimmy Garoppolo can not lose them games and not turn the ball over, the 49ers could be the team representing the NFC West.
