There have been some exciting wrestling rumors floating around the wrestling world lately. From a potential CM Punk departure to Cody Rhodes’ possible return to WWE, it’s been an exciting time to be a wrestling fan. Let’s look at some of the more interesting rumors that have been making the rounds and see if we can make any sense of them.
Cody Rhodes Return Timetable Rumors
After a well-received return to WWE at Wrestlemania 38 back in April, The American Nightmare looked poised to dethrone Roman Reigns as WWE World Heavyweight Champion potentially. However, after suffering a pectoral muscle tear before his match with Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell, Rhodes was forced out of action indefinitely. Even with the injury, Rhodes put on an excellent match with Rollins before he had to leave the ring.
Despite no official return date, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding when Rhodes might return to action. WON has reported that Rhodes has been putting on significant muscle mass. Reports say he hopes to get to about 240 Lbs by the time of his return. WWE will likely keep his return a secret until the right time. It will be interesting to see if he can regain his momentum with his increased size.
CM PUNK Ready To Move On From AEW
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, while CM Punk is still signed to an AEW contract, some wrestling rumors are floating that Punk is looking for a release. He plans to pursue other options outside of professional wrestling. Following a violent fallout at AEW All Out on September 4th, sparked by Punk’s press conference rant directed at Colt Cobana and the Young Bucks. Punk has since been suspended from the promotion indefinitely. No word has come out regarding a possible release or reconciliation between the three parties involved. Punk’s future with the promotion is currently uncertain, but it would be a massive loss for AEW if Punk decides to move on.
William Regal Seeks To Return To WWE
The ousting of Vince Mcmahon as WWE Chairman blew the door open for several former WWE Superstars to return to the fold. William Regal is among the many rumored to return. Regal notably signed a three-year contract with AEW after being released from his WWE contract earlier this year. Fightful Select reported Regal is looking to get his release from AEW before pursuing a return to WWE. Regal is regarded as one of the best managers of all time and has worked with several of WWE’s top stars throughout his career. It seems he may return to his former role in NXT, along with added responsibilities at the main roster level.
Update On Randy Orton
Wrestling rumors are swirling about the return of Randy Orton to WWE. Orton has been out since May 20th, 2022. After dropping the Raw Tag Team Titles to the Usos, Orton was written off Tv and underwent surgery. Randy’s father, Cowboy Bob Orton Jr., appeared at a virtual signing and indicated his son would be returning soon.
