It was announced this morning by ESPN’s Zach Lowe that the Los Angeles Clippers will have a new logo at the beginning of the 2024 season.

The new logo retains the “C” from the original design, while depicting a clipper sailing boat. The basketball’s seams are visible on the hull, and a new font inspired by naval typography can be seen. The color is also a lot less white and more of a navy blue with white filling in where needed.

The announcement that the Clippers will have a new logo also came with a new court design and jerseys.

The jerseys look like an ode to the original Clippers jerseys from 1987-2010, albeit with smaller script. Perhaps the biggest highlight is that the “Lob City” red jerseys are back.

“I think fans are going to be really, really excited to have the red back,” said Clipper’s president of business operations, Gillian Zucker.

The redesign seems to be part of a complete overhaul for the Clippers. At the beginning of 2024, they will enter a new arena, the Intuit Dome, breaking away from sharing a court with their LA counterpart for the first time. The Clippers have shared a court with the Los Angeles Lakers since 1999. They are also set to host the 2026 NBA All-Star game.

To go along with all of the excitement, the Clippers have also been playing excellent this season. After making an early trade for James Harden, they are now 37-19 and only 2.5 games out of the first seed in the West. A franchise that’s historically been the laughingstock of the NBA because of a lack of playoff success, the Clips might actually be starting to make some headway towards a new era.
