As WWE continues its international Premium Live Event push and its transition to a new era, Money in the Bank is closer than you think. Clash at the Castle is soon, but after that is Money in the Bank 2024. One man and one woman will earn a championship match at any time, any place. It’s not only an important match, but a badge of honor for talent. If they win the match, it means they are the future and the company feels that way.
The match from last year had seven people. Whether this year will go that route again or not remains to be seen, but here are seven men’s wrestlers that deserve a spot in the most anticipated annual ladder match. This will not determine who wins the match, rather who could potentially participate.
Jey Uso
The fireflies light the way for Jey Uso, who has been enjoying a run of immunity in a way. His popularity is sky-high, so much so that if he isn’t given a massive losing streak he’ll be fine. Jey has thrived off multi-man matches throughout his career. Though it’s unlikely he wins the briefcase (in large part because he doesn’t need it to earn a championship match), he will be a reason to watch the match.
Bron Breakker
The WWE has strapped the rocket onto Bron Breakker. The son of the Dog-Faced Gremlin is spearing people out of their shoes and taking no prisoners. Next week, he faces Ilja Dragunov one-on-one. Any time he comes out, the crowd’s not booing. They’re barking instead to show support. WWE has done all it needs to do in order to get Bron Breakker over: let him be his merciless self in-ring. Money in the Bank 2024 might be Breakker’s breakout.
Ilja Dragunov
Ilja Dragunov is being established in the midcard for the time being, but has a feud with Gunther waiting for him down the line. He has already proven himself, running Shinsuke Nakamura’s show on the Raw after WrestleMania and putting on one of the best TV matches of the year with Ricochet. People are becoming familiar with his game. If the Money in the Bank briefcase isn’t in the cards for The Mad Dragon, no doubt a midcard title will be soon.
Finn Bálor
This year’s Judgment Day representative will return to the marquee match for the first time since 2019. Damian Priest is currently the World Heavyweight Champion, Dominik Mysterio is injured as well as preoccupied with Liv Morgan, JD McDonagh is in lower-midcard hell, and Carlito has done all there is to do. Perhaps Bálor gets himself into the match as a hail mary to keep the Judgment Day afloat?
Kevin Owens
The Mr. Reliable of the company is once again entangled with The Bloodline. This time, it’s Solo Sikoa’s rendition featuring himself, the Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa), and a very scared Paul Heyman. It’s more than possible this feud spills out into the 2024 Money in the Bank ladder match. Kevin Owens is not very likely to become Mr. Money in the Bank, but he’s a wrestler anyone can trust in any situation.
Tama Tonga
Someone will be tasked with winning the Money in the Bank contract per orders of The Tribal Chief. It will likely be Tama Tonga. He’s well-established in his brief time in WWE. His resume on the independents speaks for itself. Tama Tonga will be the perfect chaos factor in the ladder match. If there was ever a wrestler to introduce several other weapons to the ladder match, it’ll be him.
Carmelo Hayes
Backstage promo slip-up aside, good things are en route for Carmelo Hayes. He’s impressed as a snarky heel so far, both in the ring and on the microphone. He’s on track to settle into an upper-midcard spot and put in great work as a heel or as a face. He already appears to be in LA Knight’s crosshairs, among others.
