Real Madrid have confirmed Carlo Ancelotti’s contract renewal with the club until 2026. This comes as a slight surprise to the football world. Numerous rumors stated that the Italians already had an agreement in place with the Brazilian National Team. Even the Brazilian Confederation President, Ednaldo, said that Ancelotti will be the new Brazilian manager. He said that he was expected to commence his tenure for the 2024 Copa America.

The club’s official statement says, “Real Madrid C. F. and Carlo Ancelotti have agreed to extend our coach’s contract until June 30, 2026.

In his five seasons as coach of Real Madrid, he has won 10 titles: 2 Champions League, 2 Club World Cups, 2 European Super Cups, 1 League, 2 King’s Cups and 1 Spanish Super Cup.

Carlo Ancelotti is the only coach who has won 4 European Cups and the one who has achieved the most victories in the history of this competition (118), and is also the first coach to win the five major European Leagues (Italy, England, France, Germany and Spain).”

Ancelotti Renews his contract, what’s next?

Ancelotti’s contract runs until 2026. It’s unlikely, though, that he’ll see out his contract as Real Madrid manager, simply because the club’s high standards need constant change in management and players, in order to remain at the top of the game.

However, The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana says that Carlo Ancelotti’s contract has the possibility of him continuing at the club in a non-coaching role.

Ancelotti has also reportedly asked for a center-back to be signed in January. This comes as a result of his injury crisis this season. He now has only two first team center-backs available; Antonio Rüdiger and Nacho Fernandez.

Mario Cortegana has also reported that Madrid will try to sign Kylian Mbappe in the January transfer market.
