The Atlanta Braves are coming off of five consecutive National League East Titles, and are looking to make it six in 2023. Check out our Atlanta Braves 2023 Preview below:
The Braves just locked up Brian Snitker, but the Braves also lost Dansby Swanson, William Contreras and Adam Duvall. However they’re gaining both a healthy Ronald Acuna and Ozzie Albies heading into the 2023 season. The loss of Swanson is the biggest question mark surrounding the Braves heading into the 2023 season. How will effect the team? Will it weaken the lineup?
The entire pitching staff saw some success a season ago, especially Spencer Strider who finished second in Rookie of the Year voting. Arguably, the best rookie pitcher in baseball last season. He pitched to an 11-5 record, with a 2.67 ERA and 202 strikeouts through 131.2 innings. Not to mention, he did that in just 20 starts.
Here’s why the Braves are title contenders once again:
Healthy Acuna and Albies
These two might just be one of the most entertaining young duos in all of baseball. Though, both are coming off injuries. Though, there’s some question as to where Albies will bat in the lineup with his foot injury, getting these two back not only deepens the linup but makes it an instant contender.
Improved Rotation
Adding Charlie Morton and Max Fried to the rotation, might be another good thing in favor of Snitker’s roster. Though these aren’t really additions, they both did miss some time last year. Morton was recovering his broken leg, and Fried had a concussion late in the season. Getting these two back gives you a healthy rotation, and a top to bottom good/great rotation. The only question is who will be the fifth. There’s been reports that Bryce Elder, Ian Anderson and Mike Soroka are all in the running.
Top Catching Duo
With the addition of Sean Murphy, the Braves may have the best catching duo in baseball when you pair him with Travis d’Arnaud.
