2024 Falcons NFL Draft

The Falcons have found their new coach and now the work can begin. They have several playmakers on both sides of the ball. Now they just need to find a quarterback who can lead the team on the field. If one of the top three quarterbacks (Drake Maye, Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels) falls to the Falcons, then it would probably be best to select them. However, Justin Fields may be a good fit for Raheem Morris. The new Falcons coach is a fan of him as well. So maybe the Falcons trade for Fields before the 2024 NFL Draft.

Pick No. 8 – Rome Odunze – Washington WR

Odunze is undoubtedly one of the best wideouts in this draft. He would add another playmaker for whoever the QB may be heading into the 2024 NFL Season. Outside of Drake London, the Falcons don’t really have anyone in the receiver room. In 15 games, he posted 1,640 yards and 13 scores, his second consecutive season passing the 1,100-yard mark. He was Michael Penix Jr.’s favorite target. Like London, Odunze makes his mark as a contested-catch specialist. He’s also a legitimate vertical threat with the ability to impact each level of the field. Odunze would take some pressure off of the Falcons last three first-round picks.

Pick No. 43 – Kris Jenkins – Michigan DL

One of the Falcons’ biggest needs is their D-Line. Outside of Grady Jarrett, they don’t have anyone to write home about. Jenkins is versatile and could be deployed up the middle or on the edge. At Michigan, he was up the middle and defended well against the run and the pass. In 2023, the former Wolverine finished with 37 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. Jenkins has all the right tools to be successful at the NFL level: brute strength, power, and tenacity, maximized by leverage and he’s explosive out of his stance.

Pick No. 74 – Ricky Pearsall – Florida WR

Remember how I said the Falcons really don’t have anyone outside of London in their receiver room? Drafting both Odunze and Pearsall could solve that issue. The latter is a tall, flexible receiver who is quicker than anticipated. The biggest problem is he lacks physical strength which can undermine the integrity of his routes. Deploying Pearsall out of the slot, alongside Odunze and London could be an option. It would give whoever the QB is three good options to choose from.

Pick No. 79 – Payton Wilson – NC State LB

The linebacker position is not a need for the Falcons ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. If Wilson falls this far, passing up on him would be a mistake. He has a great frame for a linebacker in today’s game. Not only can he defend well against both the pass and rush, but he can contribute as a pass rusher with his quickness out of the linebacker position.

Pick No. 109 – Michael Pratt – Tulane QB

Arguably, the best QB to come out of the Group of Five in 2023. Pratt regressed a little from 2022 to 2023. This last season, he threw for 2,400 yards and 22 TDs while converting on 65.5% of his passes. He’s your prototypical pocket passer who has great field vision. The QB class in this draft is deep which is why Pratt often gets lost. He’s been regarded as a sleeper in this year’s draft.

Pick No. 141 – Nelson Ceasar – Houston DL

Another Defensive Lineman who has the traits to be successful at the next level. Ceasar will likely be on the inside as he struggles against Tackles. He’s a great pass-rusher from the inside. In 2023, he totaled 43 tackles, 13.5 TFL and 9.5 sacks.

Pick No. 198 – Layden Robinson – Texas A&M IOL

Adding some depth on the Offensive Line would not hurt. Robinson is one of the bigger guards in this class and combines power in his hands with short-area quickness to engage defenders as a run-blocker.
