Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal is expected to miss multiple weeks with an ankle injury, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. Beal suffered the ankle sprain during Friday’s 139-122 loss to the New York Knicks.
Following a three-point attempt at the 7:29 mark of the first quarter, Beal’s right foot landed on the foot of New York’s Donte DiVincenzo, causing him to twist his ankle. DiVincenzo received a Flagrant 1 foul on the play, as Beal shot his free throws before exiting the game. X-rays did return negative, but Beal remained out for the rest of the game.
“I’m disappointed for him,” head coach Frank Vogel said after the game. “You could see the disappointment on his face in the back. That’s my biggest concern, is just keeping him lifted. He’ll get back soon enough, but it’s been a frustrating injury type of season for him.”
Kevin Durant also shared his feelings about the ankle injury of Beal after the game.
“No negative feelings,” Durant said. “Just next man up. This is pro sports. We’ve been a part of it for a long time guys get injured.”
Beal has appeared in just six games this season. He returned to the lineup on Tuesday after missing a month with a back injury. Beal is averaging 14.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.
The Suns currently have a 14-12 record on the season, which has them sitting on the edge of the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.
Suns fans have been waiting to watch Phoenix’s All-Star trio share the court. They witnessed it for the first time on Wednesday when Devin Booker, Durant, and Beal played in a 116-112 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. With Beal out for a few weeks, fans will now have to wait again to see the big three in action.
