Early signing day for college football recruiting has reshaped the landscape of the sport, as top programs across the nation have already locked in most of their high school commitments. With most classes filled out, let’s take a look at which schools are building powerhouse rosters to maintain or elevate their status for next season. Here’s a look at some of the top recruiting classes of 2025 and what makes them stand out.

All data pulled from the 247Sports Composite.

Texas

Recruiting Rank: 1

Texas recruiting has reached its peak with Steve Sarkisian, as the Longhorns sit with the top-ranked recruiting class this cycle. At the top of their commitment list are two of the best safeties in Jonah Williams and Kade Philips, who will provide some help for a back end that may lose some starters to the draft. On the offensive side, they landed three of the best wide receivers in the country: Kaliq Lockett, Jaime Ffrench, and Michael Terry III. Archie Manning has to be excited about the type of size and speed he has coming in on the outside.

Alabama

Recruiting Rank: 2

If there were any questions about whether Alabama could recruit at the same level post-Nick Saban, those have been answered. Alabama sits just behind Texas but with two fewer commitments (22). The shocking thing about Alabama’s recruiting class is that only two of their commits reside in the state of Alabama. Kalen Debour used his West Coast ties to bring over seven blue-chip prospects from the state of California. One name you’ll start hearing soon on Saturdays for the Tide is Keelon Russell, the second-ranked QB in the cycle. The 6-3 175-pound signal-caller has gotten early comparisons to Jayden Daniels and completed 70.8 percent of his passes over his high school career.

Oregon

Recruiting Rank: 3

The number one ranked team was very close to also landing the number one recruiting class. The Ducks sit just behind Bama with the same number of commits (22), highlighted by some studs at receiver and in the secondary. Wide receiver was always a top priority with Tez Johnson and Evan Stewart leaving after this season. So, Dan Lanning raided Florida and Texas for their top receivers in five-stars Dakorien Moore and Dallas Wilson. Additionally, they landed three elite cornerbacks who will try to fill for Jabbar Muhamad as he heads to the draft.

Auburn

Recruiting Rank: 6

Despite how they finished the season, Auburn has once again reeled in a top-ten recruiting class under Hugh Freeze. Auburn heavily emphasized the defensive side of the ball with five defensive backs, five defensive linemen, and three linebackers. Freeze will really need to start seeing some results on the field because he will not last with another five or six-win season at a place like Auburn. But with two impactful classes in a row, maybe the Tigers will start to turn a corner in 2025.

Michigan

Recruiting Rank: 7

Another team with mediocre results on the field was Michigan, but they have to be one of the biggest surprises on the recruiting trail. The Wolverines already had plenty of momentum before that Ohio State game when they flipped the number one player in the nation from LSU, quarterback Bryce Underwood. But with that win, Michigan put together a great class above schools like LSU, Texas A&M, and Tennessee. Like Alabama, they stepped well outside their footprint with four commits from the state of Florida. They loaded up on defense with five DBs and five defensive linemen to replace all the talent they will soon lose to the draft.

LSU

Recruiting Rank: 8

LSU’s class had the potential to be much higher if it weren’t for a few flips, but they make this list for keeping together the majority of their class despite the uncertainty of Brian Kelly’s future. The Tigers secured two of the top five players from the state of Florida in DJ Pickett and Solomon Thomas. Pickett, a top-ranked cornerback in the cycle, is a freakishly athletic player with a long 6’4 frame. Solomon Thomas flipped from FSU on Early Signing Day and is the top-ranked offensive guard in the nation. As usual, LSU dominated their home state with ten total commits, highlighted by five-star running back Harlem Berry.

Florida

Recruiting Rank: 11

Similar to Michigan and Auburn, Florida had a surprisingly good class despite their results on the field. But the past month has been a shocking turnaround for Billy Napier and the Florida Gators, both on and off the field. In the past month, Napier flipped several recruits, including players from Penn State, USC, FSU, Miami, Auburn, Texas, and Georgia. This was a class that was sitting at 51 not too long ago and just barely missed out on the top ten. Florida could’ve had an even better Early Signing Day. They were projected to land five-stars Solomon Thomas and Dallas Wilson, but both committed elsewhere. Regardless, it’s a great finish for a fanbase that was dead-set on firing Napier not too long ago.

Georgia Tech

Recruiting Rank: 18

The last team I’ll be shouting out is Georgia Tech, who finished with the second-best class in the ACC, ahead of schools like FSU and Clemson. Georgia Tech is a school that certainly benefited from their results on the field. Their success on the offensive line landed them multiple blue-chip prospects, including four-star offensive tackle Josh Petty. This is a team that could be on the rise very soon in a conference that is pretty open in 2025.
