After a crazy 24 hours for Notre Dame and the future of their football team, they have finally decided that Marcus Freeman will be their next head coach. This is coming off the shocking departure of Brian Kelly to LSU after having five straight ten-win seasons. It is also coming off the reported offer to Freeman from Brian Kelly that would have made him the most paid defensive coordinator in college football.

Marcus Freeman played football at Ohio State University from 2004 to 2008 as a linebacker. He was drafted in the fifth round in the 2009 draft to the Chicago bears. Freeman has serviced as Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator for the past season. Before that, he was the defensive coordinator at the University of Cincinnati from 2016 to 2020. He has also been the linebackers coach at Kent State from 2011 to 2012 and Purdue’s linebacker’s coach from 2013 to 2015.

Marcus Freeman was the coach all the fans and players wanted. Not just the players on the team now but the high school commits as while. Many commits already stated that they will stay commited only if Freeman is the head and it looks like they got what they wanted. This is a big signing for Notre Dame as a college and a football team.

The press conference is set for 1 pm CST on Monday, December 6th. The contract has not been released but once more is released on this huge signing for Notre Dame, it will be updated!
