Somehow, the Cleveland Browns still have hope in the AFC playoff picture. A date with the Steelers is imminent.
Nevertheless, the odds aren’t too good according to the AFC Playoff Picture. To clarify, the only way the Browns can make the postseason is through winning the AFC North. It’s still possible, as noted by Cleveland.com. First things first, they need to handle business in a primetime showing.
The Cleveland Browns will do battle with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the first Monday of the 2022 calendar year. Consequently, this game also is Ben Roethlisberger’s final home game at Heinz Field.
So what do the Browns need to do to at least give themselves a shot? Here’s how it all shakes out:
First, on Sunday, Cleveland needs a loss from both the Bengals and the Ravens.
3 Keys to defeating Pittsburgh:
- Keep Feeding the Horse – Nick Chubb is closing in on 1,200 rushing yards. He was held to just 61 yards on 16 carries the last time these two squared off. Likewise, his production has fluctuated game-by-game. It will be important to get him going early and often.
- Defense Bringing Pressure – Cleveland is getting some key pieces back from the COVID/Reserve List. Jadeveon Clowney will take some edge-rushing pressure off of Myles Garrett, and the secondary will be revitalized with the return of Ronnie Harrison, Jr.
- Find Playoff Magic – Last time these two met in Pittsburgh was in the Wild Card Round. Subsequently, the Browns still have some frustration over their recent struggles. I expect a hard-fought game and hopeful win.
If the Browns can pull this out, it will be a huge momentum boost toward a potential playoff spot. Monday’s result will solidify whether the Browns are contenders . . . or pretenders.
