As a rookie card collector it is important to look at the highs and lows of certain cards price points, and to able to capitalize on a dip in price. Below are 5 rookie cards that have dipped in value, that I believe will regain their value. All cards listed reference their base versions and do not differ much in price between brands. All prices are based off of average EBAY sales.

Zion Williamson

Before everybody starts attacking me, yes I do realize the pop count of Zion rookies is very high. His base rookie card value hovered in the triple digits up until this season, where most versions of the card are 30 or 40 dollars. I think he is worth buying the dip just based on the chance that he lives up to his immense hype. For those scared about the injury concerns, he has played more than Joel Embid played in his first two seasons and Embid turned out just fine. To buy a potential future face of the NBA for only around 30 dollars is too good of a value to pass up

James Harden

This is the most expensive card on this list, however 8 months ago it was a lot more pricey. Harden rookies peaked at about $800-$1000 dollars , since this season most have dropped all the way to around 200. If you have the cash I think a Harden rookie is worth an investment. He is a lock for the hall of fame making this the perfect recipe for a rise in price. The catch with Harden is he most likely have to win MVP or a championship for his card to go back up substantially while he is playing. The real value is when Harden retires and his off the court issues are not magnified.

Kevin Love

The fact that you can buy mint condition Kevin Love rookies for as little as $3 dollars is highway robbery. While he is not really a superstar, he has carved out a solid career and is a borderline hall of fame candidate. Love could add more to his resume, as this is possibly the best post LeBron Cavs team and Love is having a resurgent year as their 6th man. A solid year capped with a championship I think propels Love into the hall of fame. Despite not having superstar status hall of fame rookie cards usually can sell for at least $30 dollars. What also helps this card is the fact that there is not an abundance of PSA 10’s in existence. If the Cavs win the championship this year, I think Loves card hits double digits . If Love does eventually get elected into the hall, I could see his card in the $50 to $60 range. A $3 card with the potential to turn into $60 is quite the investment if you ask me.

Jalen Green

You can buy Jalen Green rookie cards at around 30 dollars. The former number two pick has shows flashes of potential in Houston, and has the excitement factor that helps certain cards go up in value. Green is already gaining national attention with his participation in the dunk contest. I currently see no reason as to why Green’s base cards do not eventually rise up in the high $70’s to low $100’s if he keeps progressing at the rate he is.

DeMar DeRozan

For a play of his caliber, DeRozan’s rookie card is only about $70 dollars. DeRozan’s rookies could experience a price increase due to the Bulls resurgence and his near MVP season. DeRozan could have a serious shot at the hall of fame and a few championships. DeRozan has a couple seasons left to add to the value and I think in a few years that initial $70 dollar investment will payoff. It helps that he now plays in large market Chicago now, as opposed to Toronto or San Antonio.
