Bears 2024 NFL Draft

Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears are one of the most intriguing teams. The big question regarding the Bears is if they’ll move off Justin Fields or if they keep him under center. They also have two top 10 picks that they can use to address some major issues on their roster. The first thing that needs to be addressed is the WR room. There are not enough talented receivers surrounding Fields.

Pick 1 – Marvin Harrison Jr. – Ohio State

There’s no question that Harrison is the most talented receiver in the draft. He may very well be the best player in general. With the chance that Darnell Mooney could leave in free agency, I wouldn’t be taking the risk of being down a starting-caliber receiver here. Harrison would pose a great threat for Fields. He’s always getting open because of his tremendous size, reach, speed and leaping ability.

Pick 10 – Dallas Turner – Alabama Edge

Not really a big need here, but with the fact that both Yannick Ngakoue and Rasheem Green only signed one-year deals. A player like Turner, Laiatu Latu or Jared Verse may be hard to pass up. The Bears will need another pass-rusher to complement Montez Sweat.

Pick 76 – Jackson Powers-Johnson – Oregon IOL

Come the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, is when the Bears could have a chance to address their biggest need: A center. Good ones don’t come often. JPJ is arguably one of the best in this year’s draft class. Bears fans would be happy to see this selection. A lot of them want the Oregon Center. They’ve been lobbying for it all season. Powers-Johnson has elite communication with his QB at all times, we saw that this season at Oregon. He was awarded the Rimington Trophy, which is given to the best center in College Football. Current starter Lucas Patrick is Pro Football Focus’ 35th-ranked center in a 32-team league. He’ll also be a free agent after this season.

Pick 111 – Byron Murphy II – Texas DL

The Bears just drafted three Defensive Lineman last season, but none of them have shown that they can flourish in the defensive scheme. Travis Bell was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Falcons. Murphy could fit in this system. He’s another guy who has been lobbied up by the Bears community. He’s been selected by the Bears in several mock drafts.

Pick 126 – Mar’Keise “Bucky” Irving – Oregon RB

Another selection that I’m sure Chicago fans would be okay with is former Ducks RB Bucky Irving. An RB is not a deep need for the Bears, but you can never have too many in this day and age. He’s widely regarded as one of the top running backs in this year’s draft. Coming off of back-to-back seasons with 1,000+ rushing yards at Oregon.

Pick 144 – Malachi Moore – Alabama Safety

It’s difficult to imagine that the Bears will bring back Eddie Jackson at $18.1 million. If they don’t they’re going to need a starting caliber safety to replace him. Moore would be perfect. The Bears wouldn’t have to overpay or reach for him in the first few rounds.
