The Cleveland Browns 2022 season is underway now. With what they deemed as a pretty normal off-season it was anything but ordinary at the conclusion of last season uncertainty and drama were surrounding the team. As a result of uncertainty at the quarterback position with Baker Mayfield because of injury and inconsistent play. However, the Browns then decided to trade for Deshaun Watson who had his own baggage as well. But what happens next for the team?
Jacoby Brissett Is The Starter
Deshaun Watson began his 11-game suspension on August 30th, 2022. In conclusion of the 53-man roster for the Cleveland Browns. Media Speculation that the Browns should trade for another quarterback to fill the gap until Watson is back. From the Browns camp, they have been adamant that Jacoby Brissett will be the starter in place for Watson. With Brissett as the starter, the offense will be a run-heavy team that uses a lot of play-action. They will lean heavily on the defense to lead the team for 11 weeks.
Wide Reciever Room Questions
All off-season there have been questions as to will the Browns bring in more receivers. Speculation as to bringing in more depth at the position. The Browns seem to want to go with their younger players at the position. Such players are inconsistent, need to improve, or just simply need more. However, there have been rumors the Browns may be interested in trading for more wide receivers. One receiver the Browns have is Anthony Schwartz whom the fans are down on. Development just hasn’t been there and it may be time to move on. I would add another wideout through the Free agency market. The likes of Cole Beasly or Will Fuller.
Kareem Hunt Questions
With uncertainty surrounding the long-term value of Kareem Hunt on this team, the question is do the Browns trade him? If the Browns do decide to trade him what will it be for? Connecting dots speculation is the Browns should trade hunt for a wide receiver. Then there are some in the camp that says give Kareem Hunt another extension to keep him and Nick Chubb together. Nick Chubb is on record saying he wants him around. Meanwhile, there were rumors that the Philadelphia Eagles wanted to trade for Hunt. However, the Eagles are not looking for that trade. For now, the Browns will keep him but don’t rule out a trade.
Cleveland Browns Team Overall
Heading towards the start of the season there has been speculation that head coach Kevin Stefanski could possibly be on the hot seat. Therefore, the belief around the building is that is very unlikely given current circumstances, that Kevin Stefanski would not be on the hot seat. Therefore, the Browns will continue with their alignment. Last season Brown’s defense ranked in the top 5. Will the defense be able to do it again this season? The biggest question of them all is what will be the record of the Browns after 11 games? As well can and will the Browns make the playoffs? To answer those questions I believe the team will hoover around .500 (6-5, 5-6) and Watson will come in for the last push to make the postseason.
