The COVID-19 outbreak continues to go south for the Cleveland Browns ahead of Saturday’s game against the Raiders, according to cleveland.com.
RECENT ADDITIONS
The Browns put five player on the COVID/reserve list Thursday. To clarify, backup quarterback Case Keenum, rookie linebacker Jacob Phillips, and cornerback A.J. Green.
MAYFIELD’S FRUSTRATION
The situation became more frustrating. In addition, quarterback Baker Mayfield vented on his twitter.
“@NFL Make up your damn mind on protocols,” he noted in conclusion. “Showing up and making only 3 teams test?!? All so you can keep the game as scheduled to make money.”
The league tested the team after practice in Berea Thursday afternoon. Afterwards, positive results came back from aforementioned players as well as safety Grant Delpit.
“Tell me if this makes sense,” Mayfield said subsequently, “No tests this morning . . . then let our team gather for practice . . . then show up after practice. Something seems off here.”
As a result of Keenum being put on the list, the Browns are now down to Nick Mullens as an active starting quarterback ahead of Saturday’s contest.
Mayfield is not the only player who did not agree with the inconsistencies of the testing.
“Today was real strange in which they went about testing, or I guess lack of testing,” Myles Garrett said. “Today they were saying they weren’t going to test, we were just going to go into the building, even though we might have a couple more guys pop up as positive.”
The COVID situation worsening for Cleveland and is playing a big factor ahead of Saturday. Above all, COVID is adding pressure to the Browns’ system.
