The Clippers survive a close game 106-104 against the Orlando Magic with Reggie Jackson hitting the go ahead jumper with 2.2 seconds left on the clock. Reggie Jackson was the team leader tonight with 25 points to his name and had the entire offense running through him in the crunch time. Luke Kennard went 7/11 behind the three point line this afternoon with his biggest three coming late in the fourth quarter with just under a minute left in the game. Terance Mann put up 16 points to help with the offense tonight. Zubac had himself 10 points and was playing defense at a high level all night. Zubac had a late foul on Terrence Ross of the magic. Ross was fouled behind the three point line and stepped up the drain all three free throws. Didn’t matter though with a super clutch Reggie Jackson jumper from 21 feet out.
Earlier Clipper Action
Orlando Magic took control of the first quarter as the Clippers looked a bit sluggish to start the game. Paul George was a late scratch off the starting lineup with that lingering elbow issue. Magic held a seven point lead throughout the first quarter. Clippers came back early in the second quarter with big minutes from Marcus Morris Sr. and Isaiah Hartenstein. Clippers had the lead when it was halftime at 49-44. In the third quarter Reggie Jackson came out feeling good with his shot and drained some 20 footers quickly to set the tone. Followed with great effort from Zubac and Terance Mann the Clipper etched out a victory.
Clippers are looking ahead to a big matchup against the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. Paul George did miss this previous game with that elbow issue and was a very late scratch for Saturdays game. I would expect Paul George to give it another go in warmups on Monday. and be a game time decision. Maybe Clippers training staff just wanted those extra couple days rest to help him heal up for the 21-4 Suns. Of course I am just speculating on Paul Georges current injury.
