2022 has been a weird year in professional wrestling this far and it’s all because of one man. This one man is the man who sparked “the revolution” and helped create an alternative in the professional wrestling world. His name is Cody Rhodes.

The year started off in January with a report discussing that Cody Rhodes and AEW were working on a handshake deal at the moment and Cody was no longer under any official contract with the organization. Cody Rhodes was one of the founding executive Vice Presidents of All Elite Wrestling since the inception of the company. A few weeks later after Cody Rhodes dropped his TNT Championship to Sammy Guevara at the Beach break Dynamite special and suddenly disappeared off of TV.

The world wouldn’t hear from Cody again, until the day it was announced he and his wife Brandi are no longer with AEW going forward. Cody Rhodes released this huge statement and suddenly numerous wrestlers from the locker room were speaking on Cody Rhodes no longer being All Elite. Not long after, the reports began that Cody Rhodes is in talks with WWE while deciding on where his future in the industry will continue.

Following the WWE reports was a month plus of rumors going back and forth that talks have stalled or resumed between the two. Then finally it was announced on Twitter that Cody Rhodes has signed officially and will redebut with his original home at Wrestlemania this year in a match against Seth “Freaking” Rollins. The buzz automatically took over the internet and the internet excitement for Wrestlemania picked up instantly.

We are still waiting for Cody’s official return, with it being a little over a week away and is expected to take place on Sunday April 3rd in Dallas Texas at Wrestlemania 38.
