Colin Cowherd Makes Case For Michigan To Be Ranked No. 1

Whether you hate him or like him, Colin Cowherd has just made a reasonable case as to why Michigan should be No. 1. How many teams could you say would have the same record that they have right now without their Head Coach? Cowherd believes that Michigan’s ability to win without Jim Harbaugh gives them the edge, or at least it should.

Now many teams have a strong case for the No. 1 ranking, but it’ll come down to Michigan and Georgia assuming that they win their conference championship games.

“Let’s just say its Georgia and Michigan and they both win out,” Cowherd said on The Colin Cowherd Podcast. “Could I not make the argument that Michigan’s ability – it’s the duality of life, you’re weakness becomes your strength — Michigan’s ability to win two huge games without their coach on the sideline would make me say Michigan’s actually No. 1. That in a weird way, it would get them the No. 1 seed over Georgia.”

Beating two top 10 teams without the head coach is impressive. The assistants have stepped up in that time and led the team to a 6-0 record in Harbaugh’s absence. Obviously, Michigan will need to win their conference championship in order to be considered for that No. 1 seed. There’s a chance that it’s not going to be easy, the Iowa Hawkeyes have a tough defense. They haven held all of their opponents to 16 points or less.

“To me, the only reasonable and fair argument is Michigan No.1,” Cowherd said on Monday’s episode of The Herd.

Beating Ohio State was no easy task… a rivalry game with CFP implications on the line. Cowherd makes for a pretty compelling argument. He wasn’t able to find a reason that Georgia should be ranked over the Wolverines.
