The Colorado Rockies still appear to be in the midst of a rebuild, even though they have both Kris Bryant and Charlie Blackmon in the lineup. Bud Black and his team are looking to turn the page and put the 2022 season in the rearview mirror. Check out our Colorado Rockies 2023 preview:

The Rockies don’t have much experience or consistency when it comes to their pitching staff. Daniel Bard and Tyler Kinley are the only two who had a sub-3.00 ERA. Per Fangraphs only Bard appears projected to be on the opening day roster. Though, Lucas Gilbreath surprised his way into the bullpen as the left-handed setup guy. In the offseason, the Rockies added Pierce Johnson, who pitched to a 5.02 ERA himself with the San Diego Padres last season.
The lineup may be the best part of this team, but the question comes down to staying healthy. Kris Bryant only played in 42 games a season ago, Charlie Blackmon only played 135 and Randal Grichuk is out to start the season. The roster is set for an improvement in wins if they can stay healthy and get some consistency.
The Rockies didn’t add much this offseason, which proves that they want to run it back with a similar squad. As mentioned above, Black believes in his squad.
“We had an off-year last year, there’s no doubt about it,” Black said. “I’ve mentioned before that I do think we have the pieces to contend. We have players with talent that we can exceed expectations of not only what the noise you hear from the outside, but my own personal expectations of this group and also the players’ expectations.”
