With the Number four overall pick in this upcoming draft, the Indianapolis Colts may have their choice of quarterbacks. Like almost every draft the signal-caller is the most important pick for many teams. In like manner, the Colts are one of those teams this year that will most likely be picking a quarterback. The franchise has struggled to find stability in the most important position since the retirement of Andrew Luck. Therefore, in this draft, they could get their franchise quarterback. At number four overall the Colts may be in a great place to have their pick of quarterbacks.

Quarterbacks May Fall To Four

The Colts may have a real chance of picking their guy at number four. Adam Schefter reported the Colts may get to pick from either C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, or Will Levis. At number four the Colts may get to just sit back and see which of these top prospects may fall to them. There is a chance that quarterbacks are not taken at picks two and three. Reports are that the Houston Texans are not sold on a quarterback at number two and could trade out or even pick another position. Likewise for the Arizona Cardinals at number three they will not be taking a quarterback because they have Kyler Murray who recently signed a new contract.

Stroud and Young First Quarterbacks Taken?

For the duration of the draft season, many assumed that Bryce Young and Stroud would be taken with the first two picks. After trading for the first overall pick the Carolina Panthers look to be taking a quarterback first overall. In reality, with that first pick, the Panthers look to be taking Alabama quarterback Young. As stated before the Texans aren’t sold on a quarterback at two. As well there has been speculation that Stroud could be headed for a deep fall in the draft. The real drama is supposed to begin with the number three pick. A team needing a quarterback could trade with the Cardinals and even jump the Colts.

Colts’ Next Franchise Quarterback

Colts fans may be able to get their wish from the team drafting the next franchise guy. Since Luck surprisingly retired from football the team has been searching for his replacement. For years the Colts have just had stop gaps at the position. Above all, landing their franchise guy is the top priority in this draft. Therefore, with the number four pick the Colts could be about to land their franchise guy.

Stroud Might Be The Best Option

With the assumption that Young will be off the board and the next two teams pass on a quarterback. Ohio State product Stroud will be the next best option. Stroud was a Heisman finalist and had an extraordinary college career. The possibility of Stroud being available at number four could be a game-changer. In essence, the past two collegiate seasons proved that Stroud can be a franchise guy. The Colts are looking to establish themselves as a contender in the AFC South. Although recent reports suggest that the Colts might be more interested in Levis at four and Stroud could fall. In this situation having the top three or four quarterbacks available to pick should be the best-case scenario for the Colts. Having their guy essentially fall to them could take the pressure off.
