For this matchup, we will see Taylor Heinicke and the Commanders travel to Indianapolis to take on Sam Ehlinger and the Colts. Colts vs Commanders has some fun things going on around it as well. Here are some other things to look for in this game as well.

Colts Preview

The Colts come into this game with a record of 3-3-1 after a loss to the Titans last Sunday. A day after the game, the Colts announced that Ehlinger will be the starter. Many Colts fans see this as tanking, which should not be the case at all. With Ehlinger in, the Colts now have a bit more mobility at a position where it was needed badly. Ehlinger being the starter should open up more of the rollout and boot game for the Colts. To go with that, that should allow the offensive line to have an easier time blocking, which should make more holes for Jonathan Taylor. As good of a leader as Matt Ryan was, he was not playing the best. This QB change has the opportunity to help spark a mostly dormant Colts offense.

When it comes to Colts vs Commanders Sunday, there is a lot to be hopeful for. Ehlinger played well in the preseason and now is his chance to prove he is a quality starting quarterback. This is also a game where the Colts should lean on Taylor more. It would be so much easier for Ehlinger if the Colts could establish the run game. Defensively, the Colts Just have to keep doing what they have been. The Colts defense is one of the best at holding opponents scoring down, as I believe they have given up 12 or fewer touchdowns all year. With the Commanders an injured team and bottom of the league in offense, this would be a great game for the Colts to get out to an early and hot start on both sides of the ball.

Commanders Preview

The Commanders come in with a record of 3-4 and had a huge win over the Packers last week. With Heinicke at the helm, this Commanders team seemed to have a bit more life las week. Compared to its division mates, this Commanders team has been off to a slow start. A win Sunday would go a long way in a division where the other three teams seem to be playoff teams.

When it comes to Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, the Commanders have to shut down the run and take Jonathan Taylor out of the game. Going against a quarterback in his first start, they will want to make it as hard on him as possible. There is not a lot out of Ehlinger, but he is way more mobile than Matt Ryan. The Commanders best bet on defense is to probably force him to be a pocket passer and not extend plays. The Colts offensive line has shown that it can be beat. Offensively, this team just has to score. The Commanders are averaging 17.9 points, which is ranked 26th in the league. With the Colts showing they struggle to score at times, the safest way to beat this team as of right now is to try and outscore it.

My Prediction

When it comes to the Colts vs Commanders Sunday, I think I see the Colts winning in a semi close game. The Commanders have been struggling to score. Not only that, the Commanders have been struggling to run the ball and are ranked in the bottom of the league in it.. This Colts D weakness this year has been giving up the chunk plays on the ground. For the other side, adding in the mobility of Ehlinger along with some now unpredictability on the Colts offense could spell issues for that Commanders defense. Also, not only is Sam Ehlinger getting the first start, Tarik Glenn is going into the Colts ring of Honor. This game should have a great atmosphere in Indianapolis, and should hopefully be a good football game.
