Restricted Free Agent Rasmus Dahlin re-signs with Buffalo today, the team announced. The deal is for 3 years and $18 million, with an AAV of $6 million. The Sabres are scheduled to open training camp Thursday. Dahlin, the first overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, has tallied 107 points (18 goals, 89 assists) in 197 games. Though he started slow in the 2021 season, Dahlin bounced back down the stretch. He finished with 23 points in 56 games. Dahlin also logged the most ice time in his career, averaging almost 22 minute a night.

Dahlin is the most recent high-profile RFA to sign with their respective clubs. Some notable RFA’s who have yet to sign include Vancouver’s Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson, as well as Ottawa forward Brady Tkachuk.

  1. […] The deals are reported to be roughly the same cap hit, but for different periods of time. Defenseman Quinn Hughes is reported to have signed for 6 years at $7.85 million, while center Elias Pettersson signed for 3 years at $7.35 million. Pettersson’s deal takes him to age 25, where he will remain a restricted free agent. Hughes’ deal, however, takes him right up to unrestricted free agency. Once there, he is bound to make a load of money. […]
