Nearly 24 hours since Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on Monday Night Football, Hamlin remains in critical condition. 

On Monday night, millions tuning in to see a pivotal game as the Cincinnati Bengals hosted the Buffalo Bills would soon be devastated to witness what occurred near the end of the first quarter. After what seemed like a routine tackle by Hamlin on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, Hamlin stood up and then collapsed back onto the field. Immediately players surrounded, desperately getting the attention of medical staff onto the scene.

As minutes went by, the weight of the situation continued to build as players circled the scene to prevent the crowd and cameras from witnessing what was happening. Before being placed into the ambulance, it was reported that Hamlin went into cardiac arrest and underwent CPR for nine minutes. During those nine minutes, surrounding players broke into tears and consoled one another as they saw their teammate in a life-threatening scenario. 

The players would return to their locker rooms and not return as the game was suspended. Both head coaches, Sean McDermott and Zac Taylor were in contact with the league as the teams were focused on much bigger things than football after witnessing a life-or-death situation of one of their teammates on the field.

Back at the University of Cincinnati medical center, Hamlin received treatment and testing after being restored on the field and remains in critical condition. 

Hamlin has received support from the entire league, as numerous players and teams have supported Hamlin’s recovery. Amongst the support, his charity for a toy drive has received over five million dollars in donations since the start of the game.
