Former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins has signed with a new team. Cousins will play in the T1 League after agreeing to a deal with the Taiwan Beer Leopards. His deal is a 10-day, four-game deal, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski Monday.
The Taiwan Beer Leopards announced the deal on the team’s Facebook page. In the post, they mention that they expect Cousins to travel to Taiwan in the middle of January and make his debut on Jan. 20. Cousins will likely play in four home games for the Beer Leopards that take place on Jan. 20, 21, 27, and 28.
“We’re confident that with [Cousins’] all-around skills, he’ll bring a totally new chemistry to the Leopards,” said Taiwan Beer Leopards CEO Johnny Chang in a statement.
Cousins has not played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season, where he split his time between the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets. The 33-year-old center averaged nine points and 5.6 rebounds in 48 games. He also appeared in five postseason games with the Nuggets that season, averaging 10.6 points in 11.4 minutes per game.
Cousins was an All-Star four times in his career. He averaged at least 22 points per game for five straight seasons from 2013-18. Cousins spent the majority of his NBA career with the Sacramento Kings, playing parts of seven seasons with the team. He also played for the New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and Los Angeles Clippers.
Cousins has played in over 650 games in the NBA, starting in more than 550 of those games. He has averaged 19.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, and three assists per game in his career.
Cousins most recently played for the Guaynabo Mets of Puerto Rico’s professional basketball league, where he helped the team reach the semifinals.
