Postgame interview

By: Justin Gincauskas

After leading the Seahawks to a come-from-behind victory over the Philadelphia Eagles Monday night, Drew Lock had a tough time containing his emotions in the postgame interview.

With 28 seconds remaining in the game and Seattle down by four points, Lock found wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the endzone. The touchdown sealed the upset for the Seahawks, 20-17. With the victory, Seattle moves into a tie for the final playoff spot. They are currently the eighth seed in the NFC.

Right after the game, Lock spoke with ESPN’s Lisa Salters on the field. In the postgame interview, Drew Lock could not stop smiling as he fought back tears while discussing the big win.

“Amazing won’t do it justice,” Lock said. “But amazing also won’t do justice what the O-line, what DK did on that catch, what the receivers did, what Ken Walker and Zach Charbonnet did all game long. The tight ends, man. It takes a special group to rally around a guy that is coming into the second game of the year. Used to a different guy all year long, the same cadence, the same spin of the ball, everything. But for the team, like that, not just the offense, but the defense to rally around me tonight, man, that was amazing.”

Salters then pointed out the emotional tone in his voice, which caused Lock to pause for a moment before letting out a big smile.

“It’s been a long time, it’s been a long time,” Lock continued. “I’m just blessed, I’m just blessed. Blessed with a great group of guys, a great city, great coaching staff. It’s awesome.”

As we approach the final few weeks of the regular season, I think we may have just witnessed the best postgame interview of the season right here.
