Spring Training is officially underway for the Red Sox and things are looking bright so far. This offseason has left many Red Sox fans unsure of what to expect in 2023. However, there was one person who arrived at Fort Myers today and had some words of reassurance for fans. That person being the one and only Dustin Pedroia.

Dustin Pedroia is no stranger to Red Sox fans. He was one of the best second basemen Boston has ever seen, bringing home a Rookie of the Year trophy, an MVP, and has contributed to three World Series rings. Pedroia is one of the fiercest competitors baseball has ever seen, and his number 15 should be retired by the Sox. But that’s a conversation for another day. 

Dustin Pedroia Arrives at Fort Myers

Dustin arrived in Fort Myers to help out with coaching and held a press conference with the media. He gave some words of reassurance for fans saying: “I’ve been on teams that were predicted to win the World Series and we didn’t make the playoffs. And I’ve been on teams that were predicted to finish last and we won the World Series.” 

Pedroia’s presence and leadership in the clubhouse is definitely missed. But he hasn’t closed the door on the idea of coaching in the future. He went on to entertain the idea of coming in to help out with the team, whenever or wherever he is needed. Whether that’s with the minor league guys or the guys in the majors.

Pedey is currently enjoying retirement and is the head coach of his kids’ little league teams. It would be nice to see him step into a managerial role in the future, but it’s still a great sight to see him helping out at Spring Training. He seems to be taking the time to recover from his strenuous career, which he without a doubt deserves.
