A new streaming platform is coming to all sorts of devices soon. ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery announced plans on Tuesday to launch a one-stop app that will be a welcome sight for Sports fans all over. It will include offerings from 15 different networks and the four major sports leagues.
“My sense is knowing the cast of characters,” EDO CEO Kevin Krim stated. “They’re looking at the original Hulu concept and thinking, ‘Well, that worked out really well for us.’ So let’s do that again. But for live sports streaming.”
All three companies will share one-third ownership of the new streaming platform. A name or price has not yet been released. Though, you could probably speculate that the price will not be cheap.
“This new sports service exemplifies our ability,” Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said in a statement. “as an industry to drive innovation and provide consumers with more choice, enjoyment and value and we’re thrilled to deliver it to sports fans.”
The new platform will include games from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, NASCAR and college sports, including the men’s and women’s NCAA tournaments, as well as golf, tennis and the FIFA World Cup. Subscribers will reportedly be able to pair the service with Disney+, Hulu and Max. The 15 linear networks set to be featured on the new app include ESPN, ESPN+, ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPN NEWS… all from Disney/ESPN. Warner Bros. will contribute ABC, TNT, TBS and TruTV. Fox will provide their main networks Fox, FS1, and FS2. It will also include the SEC and BIG TEN Networks.
“We believe the service will provide passionate fans outside of the traditional bundle an array of amazing sports content all in one place,” Fox CEO and Executive Chair Lachlan Murdoch said in a statement.
The new platform is expected to be released in Fall 2024.
