Now the fantasy football fun begins! The first week of byes is upon us. With such a late start to the first set of byes, there seem to be so many more injuries accompanying the scheduled scratches. There are no excuses in fantasy football. Unless you are blessed by a higher power, injuries happen and byes are inevitable. Let’s take a look at some players that could fill the gap and maybe more.
Fantasy Football Week 6: Quarterbacks
Starts ‘Em
Minnesota Vikings Quarterback, Kirk Cousins @ CAR
Carolina Panthers Quarterback, Sam Darnold vs MIN
Washington Football Team Quarterback, Taylor Heinicke vs KC
Since taking over as the WFT QB he has proven to be a valuable fantasy addition. His weapons are beaten and bruised with little hope to win the game. The silver lining here is we know they will have to be airing it out. The Kansas City defense, due to either the situation their offense puts them in or lack of ability, have been hemorrhaging points against QBs as they are 32nd in the league. Heinicke is by far the…least experienced, of all the QBs KC, has faced. Still, Taylor has a great chance to throw up some top 12 QB numbers this week.
Sit ‘Em
Tennessee Titans Quarterback, Ryan Tannehill vs BUF
Indianapolis Colts Quarterback, Carson Wentz vs HOU
Las Vegas Raiders Quarterback, Derek Carr @ DEN
Fantasy Football Week 6: Running Backs
Start ‘Em
Buffalo Bills Running Back, Zack Moss @ TEN
Miami Dolphins Running Back, Myles Gaskin @ JAX
Denver Broncos Running Back, Javonte Williams LV
Being a Devy fantasy fanatic, I love seeing these guys get to the pros. After watching games and the game film, you get to be keener on certain players. Javonte Williams is one of those guys for me. I LOVE his running style. He is in an almost 50/50 split with Melvin Gordon III. In this game though, they just need to run. Las Vegas is 24th in giving up points to the RB. That ranking comes from playing…Austin Ekeler and a bunch of patched together committees. Both Broncos RBs run in very similar ways with Javonte having more of the quick punch to the holes and legs that never stop churning. Should be a fun week to watch this North Carolina rookie.
Sit ‘Em
Arizona Cardinals Running Back, Chase Edmonds @ CLE
Las Vegas Raiders Running Back, Josh Jacobs @ DEN
Detroit Lions Running Back, Jamaal Williams vs CIN
Fantasy Football Week 6: Wide Receivers
Start ‘Em
Indianapolis Colts Wide Receiver, Michael Pittman Jr. vs HOU
L.A. Rams Wide Receiver, Robert Woods @ NYG
Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver, Marquise Brown vs L.A. Chargers
Sit ‘Em
Cinncinatti Bengals Wide Recveiver, Tee Higgins @ DET
Minnesota Vikings Wide Receiver, Adam Thielen @ CAR
Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver, A.J. Brown vs BUF
This one hurts me to have to do. A.J. Brown is one of my favorite players. I wish it was just because of a matchup or because of lingering injury issues. Alas, I am having to place him on the bench list because he has yet to be a decent flex option. On the season, he is WR79. He has essentially missed 2 games. Before that, his connection with Ryan Tannehill has seemed rusty. Actually, the entire passing game has seemed that way. This is another situation where I am benching a key player because I have to see them actually perform. He has every ability, no matter who he is going up against, to go off. Hopefully, he proves me wrong. This being the first week of byes benching A.J. may not be plausible. I just don’t see him breaking the top 24 unfortunately this week.
Fantasy Football Week 6: Tight Ends
Start ‘Em
New England Patriots Tight End, Hunter Henry vs DAL
Buffalo Bills Tight End, Dawson Knox @ TEN
In the last four games, Dawson Knox has been the dream TE for fantasy purposes. If he kept this pace up the rest of the season he would be threatening 1,000 receiving yards and 20 TDs. Obviously, regression is going to come into play at some point. With that being said, I do not foresee regression tripping up Knox this week. Yes, if the Titans are good at anything outside of running the ball it would be defending the TE. Nevermore, his 6’4” 250 lb athletic presence is the ultimate security blanket and a red zone magnet for Josh Allen.
Sit ‘Em
Washington Football Team Tight End, Ricky Seals-Jones vs KC
L.A. Chargers Tight End, Jared Cook @ BAL
