Florida Comes Up Just Short Against Bama

Gary Cosby-USA TODAY Sports

In a game where everyone thought that the Alabama Crimson Tide would run away with the game. The Florida Gators came up just short.

Late in the ball game, the Gators were stuffed at the goal line on a two-point conversion attempt.

Early on, the Crimson Tide led 21-3. But after the first quarter, the Gators came crawling back. Emory Jones and the Florida Gators outscored Alabama 26-10 from the second quarter and beyond.

What Could Florida Have Done Different?

You can’t score just field goals and expect to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide, and that is where the Gators fell short. Jones had just 198 yards passing with no touchdowns. Had Florida had converted on that two-point conversion and made that extra point or scored one more touchdown. They would have upset Alabama. Not many times you can say that.

The biggest drive of the game was that 99-yard drive by Jones and the Gators. Take a Look:

Though, the Alabama Crimson Tide held on to defeat the Florida Gators. It proves that Alabama is in fact human, and they can be beaten. The Florida Gators have a chance to play the Tide every year, so next year’s matchup between these two SEC teams could be a different story.

For now, the Crimson Tide will remain undefeated and the Gators will move to 2-1. Watch out for this week’s College Football Rankings, as Florida should jump into the top 10 despite the loss.
