Louisiana State Police arrested former LSU and current New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte in connection with illegal sports betting. According to state police, Boutte faces a felony count of computer fraud and a misdemeanor count of gambling prohibited for persons under 21. The investigation is still ongoing, and more charges may be filed.
According to investigators with the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division, Boutte used an alias to get around online age requirements. He was only 20 years old, and on the Louisiana State University football team, at the time several of the best were placed. Police allege Boutte made more than 8,900 bets while at LSU including six bets connected to LSU football.
Kayshon Boutte appeared in five games for New England during the 2023 season. He caught two passes for 19 yards. Boutte set an SEC-single game record with 308 receiving yards as a freshman against Ole Miss in 2020. He struggled with injuries later in his college career and fell to the sixth round of the NFL draft.
A Patriots spokesperson told ESPN the team is aware Boutte is cooperating with police on the investigation. The NFL has not commented on Boutte’s arrest.
