FP2 at Jeddah Corniche Circuit was topped by Lewis Hamilton. His lap clocked at 1min 29.018 secs. Valtteri Bottas followed him with Pierre Gasly at P3. Title leader, Max Verstappen had his Red Bull P4 in the timesheets. And last race’s winner, Fernando Alonso was at P5.

In this second practice session, drivers struggled to maintain tyre temperatures. As the track became cooler, the tyres – especially mediums – were not catching performance quickly. This resulted into tyre lock ups which in turn compromised the sector times.

It was usual business at the inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix i.e. Max and Lewis driving fast around the fastest street circuit. But for a little moment, AlphaTauri rookie – Yuki Tsunoda – went the quickest. Though his time of 1 min 29.597 secs was not enough to reserve the top position as Max right after that, went 0.3 secs faster than him.
Tsunoda said on the radio, “The car feels quite good.”

George Russell had a temporary problem with his Williams regarding the brake pedal which soon got resolved. 

The Haas of Nikita Mazepin made a small contact with the wall at the exit of Turn 27. Though there was nothing serious for the Russian to worry about.

Talking about serious, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc had a big shunt at Turn 22. The TecPro barriers did a good job in absorbing the high speed crash. The Monegasque driver was not injured.

The impact looks like the Ferrari driver will have to get a new chassis. Well all we can do is wait while Charles’s team work their night away in Jeddah.
