For many former NFL players and coaches transitioning into the broadcast booth is always an option. Recently, 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Fred Toucher was asked about Bill Belichick and Tom Brady entering the booth. Whether or not, he thought they’d be good at it. Toucher was quick to respond, giving his thoughts:

“No, I think he (Belichick) would be absolutely terrible, but someone would pay him.”

It was recently reported that Belichick is likely to stay on the sidelines for at least a few more years. The former Patriots coach wants a project wherever he lands, not an instant title favorite. Belichick is arguably one of the greatest coaches of all time with 302 career wins. Though, it’s true that success as a coach doesn’t necessarily mean success as a broadcaster. That’s a whole different animal. Take it from someone who has broadcasted at many different levels.

On the Toucher and Hardy show, the discussion continued and the former was asked about Tom Brady. The former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback recently signed a deal with Fox to be part of their NFL Coverage next season.

If Brady gets good advice from other broadcasters and practices the craft before stepping into the booth, then he might be okay. Fred Toucher doesn’t think so, however.:

“Tom Brady is going to be atrocious at broadcasting…but he’ll make more money in a year than I’ll see in my entire lifetime, including any money I make on investments,” Toucher said.

Toucher even went on to state that the “Let’s Go!” Podcast that Brady hosts with Jim Gray is bad.

“an abomination and when I tell you its bad,” Toucher stated. “Its so bad that its not even worth poking fun at…It’s just awful.”

Time will only tell if Brady and/or Belichick can make in the broadcast booth, but Fred Toucher doesn’t think so. For Brady, we may know soon how he does. We’ll get to see/hear him next season.
