The Giants Have Landed Carlos Correa.

Carlos Correa and The San Francisco Giants have come to an agreement on a $350M, 13-year deal. This deal comes after many teams have shown interest in the all star shortstop, but the Giants are the ones to land him.

The Giants have finally gotten their big name free agent this offseason after missing out on Aaron Judge. It was suspected that the Giants were still going to be in on some big names even after Judge signed back with the Yankees. And they followed through with this monster deal to Carlos Correa. This deal includes no opt-outs and a full no trade clause.

The shortstop free agent market is almost wrapped up this winter, with Dansby Swanson being the last big fish in the pond. Carlos Correa got through the winter meetings without any takers. But after Trea Turner and Xander Bogaerts were off the board, it was only a matter of time before a team picked up Correa.

Correa Gets His Big Deal After Opting Out.

Carlos Correa signed a three-year, $105.3M deal with the Twins last winter, but opted out of his contract after only the first year. This was a smart move to raise his price, as he managed to slash .291/.366/.4 with 22 home runs and 64 runs batted in.

This move is both huge for the Giants and for Correa. The Giants finally landed a big name player after missing out on Judge. And Correa waited out the shortstop market and landed his big deal he’s been waiting for. With the free agent pool getting more shallow by the day, we could be seeing the last shortstop, Dansby Swanson, signing with a new team any day now.
