The Seattle Seahawks have given safety Jamal Adams a four-year $70 million deal making him the highest paid safety in the NFL.
Adams spent his first three seasons in the NFL with the New York Jets where his talents were rather underutilized. The Seahawks saw his extreme potential and went after him. They added him to a defense that was in need of some reliable talent.
2020 was his first season with the Seahawks where he played 12 of the 16 regular season games.
He made an immediate impact as he racked up 12 tackles in the week one matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Overall he averaged 6.75 tackled per game. Additionally, he finished with 9.5 sacks which put him in a tie for the ninth most in all of the NFL which is extremely impressive since he missed a quarter of the season.
Adams and the Seahawks have been in a long stalemate regarding his contract. He has sat out while negotiations have been going on so with preseason games officially underway it is great for them to close the deal and get ready to dominate this coming season.
He is already one of the best safeties in the league, but if he can stay healthy he will work his way up even more in 2021.
The Seahawks are looking to get back to the playoffs and Jamal Adams will be a huge factor from start to finish.
