Jamal Musiala bagged a goal and two assists en route to a four-nil Bayern win against Bayer Leverkusen in the early flight of the Bundesliga’s Matchday 8. That increases his tally for this season up to seven goals and five assists.

A class first touch gave the young man wide-open space down the right flank before he delivered a pin-point cross right to the right foot of Leroy Sané for the opener. Just 14 minutes later, a quick one-two with Thomas Müller set up a shooting opportunity for Musiala, and he banked it home from a tight angle despite Lukáš Hrádecký’s valiant fingertips. And minutes before the half-time clock struck, it was the 19-year-old again. This time from a Benjamin Pavard’s ball recovery, Musiala ping an easy pass to Sadio Mané, and the Senegalese finished the job cleanly.

WHAT CAN BAYERN FANS AND GERMANY FANS EXPECT IN THE UPCOMING PERIOD?

Based on the eye test, everyone agrees that Bayern’s performances are much better with Jamal Musiala on the pitch. His dribbles take the creativity load off Joshua Kimmich’s shoulders and his passes are rarely misplaced. His movement without the ball gives flashbacks of his teammate, the Raumdeuter himself, Thomas Müller, and his production is unrivaled. Not to mention how versatile this wonder kid is. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann has used him in almost every position in Bayern’s midfield – from number 6 to number 8 or 10, and even as wingers – he excels at each and every one of them.

Julian Nagelsmann is not the only coach that adores Jamal Musiala. Germany gaffer Hansi Flick sure loves to have this prominent creator, who he forged in his Bayern days, especially in the current situation of Germany’s attacking line. Although Kai Havertz and Serge Gnabry are indubitably great players, their forms have been horrendous. Timo Werner and Leroy Sane have great stat lines this season, but they often look lost in the “Die Mannschaft” build-up. Jamal Musiala introduces that fresh breeze of attacking ideas. His performance against England in the Nations League fixture was one to look back on, with a penalty drawn and a bag of chances created while terrorizing Harry Maguire and England’s backline.

The Germans now possess a true gem of a player. If Musiala stays healthy and continues this type of performance, don’t be surprised to see him starting over other big-name players in the highly-anticipated World Cup in Qatar. And in the meantime, Gareth Southgate and the Englishmen can regret not being able to keep this incredible talent.

“Musiala is an exceptional player. We had him play with Jude (Bellingham) in our U16s. You know how much we liked him, you know how hard we tried to keep him… However, he was training at Bayern Munich with eight German internationals who had the opportunity to influence him. That’s a shame. He is a very special talent.”
