The Dallas Stars announced on Thursday that Jason Robertson had agreed to a four-year deal worth 31 million dollars. During Robertson’s second full season with the Stars, he scored 41 goals, 38 assists, and played in 74 games.
General manager Jim Nill said, “…His knack for scoring goals and seeing plays develop on the ice are just some of the tremendous assets that he brings to our team. He is one of the best young players in the NHL and we look forward to seeing him continue to progress.”
Robertson’s Stats
The second-highest rookie total in Dallas Stars history, Robertson’s 45 points in 51 games in 2020–21 earned him a nomination for the Calder Memorial Trophy.
According to NHL.com, Robertson, also, has twice represented the United States on the international stage, earning a silver medal at the 2019 World Junior Championship. And also winning bronze at the 2021 IIHF World Championship (4-5=9 points in 10 games).
According to ESPN, before the start of training camp for this season, new coach Pete DeBoer expressed excitement about managing Robertson. “Listen, I laid awake at night with the excitement of coaching Jason Robertson, 40-plus goals, but he’s not here,” DeBoer said then. “So, you know, until he gets here, I can’t spend any energy on that.”
Additionally on that note, Robertson was excited to say, “We talked about how excited I am to finally get a part of it, and to start this journey together. I’m really looking forward to introduce myself in person and get on the ice and show the coaches what type of player I am.”
Above all, given how essential he is to this team’s scoring and who his current competitors, the Stars were able to sign one of the league’s most valuable players for a great deal.
