Dana White was caught on camera slapping his wife, and while the UFC President offered “no excuses” for this behavior, several fighters and even media alike still made ones for him. Since the video leaked, mainstream media outlets have remained silent or have been soft on the subject. While many shrugged it off and supported White, Kyle Kuzma took to Twitter and took shots at the sports media coverage.
“There was definitely a lot of alcohol involved, but that’s no excuse. I am literally making no excuses for this thing at all,” said White. “It’s never happened before. It’s the first time that it’s ever happened. People are gonna say what they’re gonna say. It just is what it is and whatever people do say, it’s deserved, I deserve it.”
Yes, his wife may have hit him first but that is not a justification for what he did, and Dana White knows it.
“You’ve heard me say for years, there’s never an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman.”
This sort of thing would never be tolerated in other mainstream sports, and it’s precisely what NBA star and combat sports fan Kyle Kuzma pointed out on social media.
Kuzma, a one-time NBA champion with the Lakers and current top scorer for the Washington Wizards, took shots at ESPN and the general sports media for how they’ve handled White’s situation.
“Question to sports media why do you guys pick and choose when you blast ppl… Dana white???? Hmmm,” Kuzma wrote on Twitter.
“ESPN’s coverage on this Dana White situation is flat-out embarrassing!!!!,” he followed up.
As of now, no punishment has been made public that we know of.
