In the Ligue 1 matchup against Montpellier, PSG’s star players Kylian Mbappé and Sergio Ramos went down with injuries within the first half of the game.

PSG headed to Stade de la Mosson missing Neymar Jr. due to muscular fatigue, leaving the frontline to Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi. But the former had a forgetful time on the pitch. He missed the penalty (twice, including retakes) and the rebound. And to make matters worse, the Frenchman hurt his hamstring just minutes later and struggled to leave the field after 21 minutes.

After the medical checkup, it was confirmed by the team that Kylian Mbappé would be sidelined for at least three weeks. And with the first leg against Bayern coming in 11 days, the speedster will miss the game.

As if it wasn’t bad enough, in the 32nd minute, veteran defender Sergio Ramos could not finish the game with an injury. The only fit center-back on the roster is captain Marquinhos, leaving coach Galtier with a considerable gap to fill before facing a dynamic offense in Bayern Munich.

With Mbappé and Ramos leaving the game, PSG still managed to pull through despite having two goals called back by VAR. Fabian Ruiz, Lionel Messi, and Warren Zaire Emery scored to bring three points back to Paris. 16-year-old Warren Zaire Emery also became the youngest PSG player to score for the senior team.

Outlook before battle vs. Bayern Munich

If Sergio Ramos cannot recover on time, Danilo Pereira is expected to play center-back alongside Marquinhos. But the big question is who will be Mbappé’s replacement. PSG missed out on Hakim Ziyech at the deadline due to paperwork issues. Will they trust Carlos Soler or Hugo Ekitike to join Neymar and Messi in the front three? That question is for Christophe Galtier to answer.
