Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe Agree to Five-year Deal

The wait is over. On Monday, Real Madrid officially announced the signing of Kylian Mbappe. It was expected that Mbappe would leave Paris Saint-Germain. He made it official with an announcement that he would leave PSG when his contract expired at the end of the season.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Kylian Mbappe have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons,” the Spanish champions said in a statement.

Signing with Real Madrid is a dream come true for Kylian Mbappe. Following the official announcement, he posted this on X:

A dream come true. Very happy and proud to be part of my dream club @realmadrid It is impossible to explain how happy and excited I feel right now. I can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thank you for your incredible support. Go Madrid!

The deal is reportedly a five-year deal worth €15 million ($16.2m). At least according to ESPN’s Julien Laurens and Alex Kirkland. A deal that has been in the works since at least February. Madrid is coming off another season in which they are the LaLiga Champions. With the 2-0 victory over German side Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid claimed their 15th championship.

Mbappe’s final game with PSG ended in a 2-1 victory over Lyon for the French Cup on May 25. Adding one of the best French players will be a welcome sight for Real Madrid fans. He joins a roster that’s loaded with talent from top to bottom. Carlo Ancelotti should have no problem finding a spot on the roster for Mbappe though.
