The Philadelphia 76ers added former Detroit Pistons and Sacramento Kings forward Louis King on Monday morning. The two sides agreed upon a two-way contract, which allows for NBA Teams to test players out. The rules include the player not being allowed to be on a team’s active list for no more than 50 games. Though there is no limit on workouts, practices and team activities.
King will become the fourth two-way signing for the 76ers this season. The young forward is an undrafted prospect out of Oregon. He’ll be coming off of a stint with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the G League, where he averaged 20 points per game while shooting 31 percent from three on eight attempts per game. In 26 career games (9.7 MPG), he holds averages of 4.2 PPG and 1.5 RPG on .392/.327/.684 shooting.
In order to make room for King, the 76ers had to cut Saben Lee. Lee played in just two games with the Sixers this season. Totaling ten minutes on the court, taking four shots, and scoring six points. Down in Delaware with the Sixers’ G League affiliate, the Blue Coats, Lee appeared in eight games. Averaging 35 minutes on the court, the young veteran put up 25 points per game while hitting on 41 percent of his threes.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to make my mark, to show what I can do with the opportunity,” Lee continued back in November. “I don’t take this opportunity for granted, for sure.”
Philadelphia has a well-established rotation so Louis King will most likely be a depth piece who can play multiple positions, at 6-7 and 205 lbs. the fourth-year veteran could play guard or out on the wing. King will immediately report to the Delaware Blue Coats, where he is already listed on the roster. It appears he will wear no. 2.
