Pace Preview

The Meadowlands Pace is set to be raced tonight as the field has been set for the “Biggest Party in Harness Racing”. The Pace, which is scheduled for 10:44 tonight, has a field of 10 with the current favorite NightHawk at 4-1 odds for the race. However with that being said there are some other contenders that may be able to edge out Nighthawk taking home the 600,000 purse.

Pace Pick 1: NightHawk

NightHawk as we mentioned is the current favorite to win tonight’s race with 4-1 odds and a 56% chance of winning from TrackMaster.com. Nighthawk starts tonight in the third spot at the gate which isn’t anything you should be worried about as harness racing is much different then thoroughbred racing. Unlike Thoroughbred racing Harness racing has a running start which evens out the field as it would be difficult to fit the jockeys in the chariots if it was at the gate. With that being said Harness Racing also doesn’t have many upsets as the horse favored to win, most of the time does win. Doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. So NightHawk would be the best bet to put on this race to win tonight’s race.

Pace Pick 2: Market Based

My second best bet would be Market Based, who currently sits at 5-1 odds. Market Based has beaten NightHawk before in racing and has three first place finishes out of seven starts. Here’s the thing with Market Based. Even though Market Based has three first place finishes this year out of seven starts, he has failed to pick up a second place or third place showing in non win races. Another key stat to look at is both NighHawk and Market Based Marks are at 1:48.4 coming into today’s race which could allow for driver Dexter Dunn a possibility of winning tonight’s race. I would put Market Based in my trifecta as I do think he will show in the top three but I don’t have him winning in tonight’s race.

Pace Pick 3: Beach Glass

The final horse that I’d consider is Beach Glass who sits at 7-5 odds for tonight’s race. Beach Glass has been doing great this season with two first place wins and two second place in four total starts. He is the morning line favorite setting a personal record of 1:48.1. Furthermore He also picked up a victory in his elimination race over Captain Cowboy, also an entry in tonight’s race, by 5 and ¼ lengths. Because of his MARK and his consistent placing in the top two I can see Beach Glass pulling off a victory in today’s race. The only thing that will be a challenge for him today is taking an early lead as he starts in the 6th spot.

Final Words

So for my final word here’s what I have on tonight’s race: Beach Glass win, NightHawk Place, Market Based show, and for the trifecta I have 6,3,4. For the superfecta I have 6,3,4,1,7. To watch tonight’s race tune to Fox Sports 2 which will have all the action from 8pm to 11pm. For folks who are in the area stop on down for the big party with food trucks and lots of fun things to do all night from 5-12am.
