Brooklyn has found another star in Mikal Bridges as he ties Kevin Durant‘s season-high as a Net, while Philadelphia’s star duo halts Cleveland’s 7-game win streak.
Brooklyn Bridges
Mikal Bridges was a part of the blockbuster Durant trade to move him to Phoniex, while Bridges found a new home in Brooklyn where he’s flourished as he’s become their leading scorer. Bridges had career-high 45 points, shooting 17-24 from the field, eight rebounds and five assists. He now joins Durant, Kyrie Irving and Cam Thomas as the only Brooklyn Nets to have a 45-point game this season. This was no easy match for Brooklyn as they played against a playoff contender in the Miami Heat. With tonight’s 116-105 victory, the Nets hold onto their fifth seed in the Eastern Conference as they look to sneak into the playoffs.
Sixers Erase Cavs Win Streak
The Cleveland Cavaliers came into the night riding a 7-game win streak and would face a tough challenge in the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers duo of Joel Embiid and James Harden put on a clinic with Embiid having 29 points and 14 rebounds, while Harden had 19 points and 12 assists. Embiid also surpassed 10,000 career points, becoming the eighth active center to be added to the list. In a playoff-like matchup where both teams were healthy, the Sixers edged out the Cavaliers 118-112. Cleveland all-star Donovan Mitchell led the team in scoring 33 points, five assists and rebounds.
Luka vs Jokic
Two MVP favorites went to battle against one another as the Denver Nuggets were without Jamal Murray and the Dallas Mavericks without Irving. This meant that Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic had to do more than normal without their supporting cast. Doncic started off the first quarter hot with 17 points, shooting 5-8 and becoming his ninth 15-point first quarter this season. The Dallas all-star went on to finish with 37 points, four rebounds and nine assists and the Mavericks yet again struggle to defend in allowing 118 points. On the other side Jokic recored a triple-double in the Nuggets vicotry with a 14 point, 13 rebound and 10 assist statline. The leading scoring for Denver would come off the bench as Jeff Green had 24 points and the Nuggets once again show off their depth to the rest of the league.
