Muani, Dkeko or Joselu, who should Real Madrid sign?

Carlo Ancelotti recently spoke about the importance of signing a new striker for the future project. In my opinion, Madrid were in need of a backup striker since last season. Benzema is fantastic but no one can remain young forever. This season, has suffered frequent muscular injuries which has led to him miss a decent amount of games. The striker market isn’t the best at the moment but there’s still quality players who can do the job. Muani, Dzeko and Joselu are some of the players that the club should consider bringing in.

Edin Dkeko

Despite being 37 years of age, Dzeko is still a competent backup striker to have. Not only is he a great finisher, but he also brings a different profile to the table. A more traditional number nine who will attack any type of service in the 18 yard box.

He can also be useful if you’re in need of a goal or two. You can partner him and Benzema up top in a 4-4-2 with Vini and Rodrygo on the flanks to provide the required service. The former Roma striker has scored 11 goals in 45 appearances this season which is a decent goal return for a backup striker.

The club doesn’t usually sign players over the age of 30 and if they do, they definitely aren’t as old as Dzeko. But sometimes policies need to change for the benefit of the club.

Randal Kolo Muani

Muani is one of the most talented prospects at the moment. After his impressive World Cup campaign, more people began to pay attention to him in the Bundesliga. It’s safe to say that they’ve been impressed and are eager for their club to sign the 24 year old.

This is more of a long term investment than a short term option. He’s young, ambitious and talented which is a great combination to have as a youngster. From the player’s perspective, it isn’t the right option for him to potentially hinder his development and sit on the bench for large parts of the season. But from the club’s point of view, it’s a good piece of business. They’ll be signing a great prospect to replace Benzema when he’s fatigued or injured and ultimately when he retires.

The former Madrid player would be another good short-term option. He’s a proven goalscorer that’ll constantly occupy defenders. He has good movement, anticipation and an overall understanding of the game.

We don’t know if the club will pursue any of these strikers. But what is known is that Ancelotti wants a backup striker and many fans are in agreement with the gaffer. Let’s see if the club agrees.
