On April 7, 2022, the NHL and BetMGM agreed to a partnership deal, which made BetMGM and FanDuel the first-ever North American sports betting partners of the league. Just over a year and a half later, the NHL and BetMGM have extended their partnership for multiple years.

“We are thrilled about our partner extension with BetMGM,” Jason Jazayeri, the NHL’s vice president of business development, said in a press release. “The evolution of our partnership with BetMGM will focus on building unique and compelling fan experiences, as well as event activation and media programming all with an eye towards delivering exciting new ways for our fans to interact and engage with the sport they love.”

BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt also spoke highly of the extension.

“Our partnership extension with the NHL is a winner. It enables us to enhance the BetMGM product and offer fans unforgettable entertainment built around the game they love,” Greenblatt said. “The NHL is more thrilling than ever – a symphony of athleticism, teamwork, and skill on skates. We look forward to bringing our customers exceptional live experiences and delighting with new in-app content for BetMGM.”

The financial terms for the extension were not disclosed. BetMGM will continue to receive visible signage during nationally televised broadcasts in the U.S. The signage will extend across both the league’s regular season and playoffs. The NHL and BetMGM will also continue to promote safe and responsible gambling, as both parties are official partners of the American Gaming Association’s “Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly” public service campaign to educate bettors.

Just last month, the NHL added two new sports betting partners to its “Official Sports Betting Partners” lineup. ESPN BET, which went live Nov. 14 across 17 states, and theScore Bet, joined BetMGM, FanDuel, and DraftKings as Official Sports Betting Partners of the league.
